Ko Samui is situated in the Gulf of
Thailand, which teems with a variety of fish like
barracuda, white and red snapper, shark, cobia, mackerel,
sailfish, grouper, gar, travally, queen fish and sting ray.
For people who love to throw a line into the
waters, we offer fully equipped boats ready to sail with our
guides on board. If you love the taste of fresh fish, you can
take your catch home and prepare it any way you like.
Nothing beats big game fishing in ko samui. It is a peaceful and
relaxing way to enjoy nature and bond with family or friends. To
place a hook in the water and to wait for that first nibble is a
lesson in patience for sure; but the joy and anticipation of not
knowing if you are about to land a world record fish or get hung
up on a rock is a just reward.
Normally, time spent fishing is always worth
the trouble of rigging the line, trying to untangle a bird’s
nest of fishing string or cleaning the fish afterwards. However,
the good thing about going out fishing here on Samui is,
that’s all done for you!
Our big game fishing tour guides around ko Samui are old hands
in the art of sport fishing. The Thais have been fishing these
waters for centuries. They know just where to take the boat so
that you will have an excellent chance of catching a fish. Also,
our guides do everything for you. They rig the lines, show you
how to get the line in the water, tell you the signs to look for
to indicate a fish is on your hook and even put the stinky squid
on your hook for you; and when you do land the big one, they
will take it off the hook for you. So, all you have to do is sit
back, relax and enjoy the best of fishing without doing any of
the dirty work.
The boats we use for big game fishing around
ko Samui are beautiful wooden, 12-meter boats with inboard
engines, which are always kept immaculately clean. They are
painted in bright reds, blues and a variety of other eye-catching
colors. The bow of each boat is decorated with typical Thai-style
yellow flowers and ribbons to bring the boat good luck and make
it safe. The boats has a cover to protect you from the sun,
comfortable benches, and a small cooking area, as well as toilet
facilities.
Another great aspect of going out on our boats
for a big game fishing tour is the journey itself. Watching the
crew get the boat ready for lunch and the trip out to the first
anchoring point is fun and interesting all by itself. It is
amazing how our crew knows where exactly to take the boat, and
they take great pride in pinpointing their anchor in the right
location. If no fish are to be found there, we up anchor and
speed away to the next likely spot.
After a full day or night of fishing, you are
safely returned to shore. At this point, all the fish are
brought out and you can finally see the fruits of your labor all
pilled up in a bucket. These fish should be judged not by how
big or small they are but by how good they are going to taste.
For a small extra fee, our crew will offer to clean and prepare
your fish so that they will be ready to be thrown into the
frying pan or cut up into pieces for some curry. Eating your
catch really is the best way to top off a great and satisfying
fishing trip.
The only things that you need to bring are a
towel, some sunscreen and a good helping of patience. Oh, and
always remember the old saying, “A bad day fishing is better
than a good day at work”.
Our big game fishing tour will take you to
some of the best fishing locations around Koh Samui.

fishing trips, therefore he will take you to the spots
where the biggest fish can be caught; the locations are usually
those that lie south of Koh Samui such as Wang Bay, Koh Mudsoom,

a small island off Samui’s southern shore; it is only

survive there. This is probably because of high-frequency calls
of bats that populate the caves and tree tops there, although
some blame the island spirits.
Here, on board, in one of the island’s
secluded bays, a simple Thai lunch will be served and you will
have the opportunity to barbecue your catch! If you would
prefer to eat it later then our staff will fillet it for you to
take back to your resort to be cooked for you in the restaurant.

life present in the shallow bays of the islands. In
addition to beautiful hard and soft corals, you can see a range
of colorful reef fish. All you have to do is let us know
when you book that you would like to snorkel. After lunch, more
fishing and trawling will take place until you arrive back at
the pier at 4:30 pm, where your taxi will be waiting to take you
back to your hotel.

Night Fishing
There is also an option to go night fishing but only as a privet
charter. The underwater world follows a day/night rhythm similar
to ours, meaning that at night there are different kinds of fish
to be caught than during the day. Upon arrival at the first
fishing site, you will begin to hunt for squid. Bright lights
are used to attract the squid which are then easily caught. The
live squid is used as bait later during the trawling session on
the second fishing site. Privet charter start at 8,000 Baht for
up to 4 guests.
Schedule:
19:00 Transfer from your hotel to the pier.
19:45 Departure to the first fishing area. 20:00 Arrival at the
first fishing area. First you will hunt for squid that is used
as bait later on.
22:00 fishing at the next fishing area. (trawling)
